The growth of digital economy in Russia is primarily connected with the expansion of the public sector creating and implementing new information and accounting systems in the sectors that “belong to the sphere of possible government revenues”, as “Kommersant” reports, referring to the study of the Pavel Stolypin Institute for the Economy of Growth titled “Digital Economy”.

      The Head of the Supervisory Board of the institute, business ombudsman Boris Titov estimated the business costs of the “digital economy” at 80 billion roubles: over the last two years the business spent this sum on installing online cash registers and the USAIS system, as well as on the implementation of the “Yarovaya Law”.

      According to Titov, the current trend in the digitalization of the economy leads to a serious retardation of Russia.
