Russian Film Sobibor Hit the Oscar Long List

Last year, “Loveless” by Andrei Zvyagintsev was included into the short list of Oscar Award.

      The military drama film “Sobibor” directed by Konstantin Khabensky has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. For this prize, 87 works will compete, including “Cold War” from Poland, “Crystal” from Belarus, “Roma” from Mexico, and others.

      All the nominees are presented on the Oscar website.

      The film “Sobibor” is based on the book by Ilya Vasilyev about the only successful escape from a Polish concentration camp in October 1943. Konstantin Khabensky played the Red Army soldier Pechersky, known as the leader of the uprising.

      The Oscar short list will be announced on January 22, 2019. The award is scheduled for February 24, 2019.
