The rate of poverty in Russia remains high, despite the growth in real incomes of the population. This was stated by the Head of the Accounts Chamber Aleksei Kudrin. “Poverty rate remains high, the indicator amounts to19.3 million people, that is, 13.2 percent of the entire population receive incomes below the subsistence minimum”, Kudrin said. According to him, by the end of 2018 a growth in real incomes will be recorded in Russia for the first time in the last five years.
In the first eight months of the year real incomes have grown by 2.6 percent. Whereas for the previous four years they decreased by 11 percent.
In addition, according to Kudrin, real incomes of pensioners also increased in 2018. Last year their growth made up 3.6 percent.
