In the mid-1960s, the heyday of rock music, the Hammond organ became especially popular. Lawrence Hammond invented his electromechanical keyboard instrument in 1935. During the war years it was used in military orchestras, and after the war, it was adopted by lots of blues, jazz, and rock bands.
