The beginning of winter tourist season in the Altai Territory will be celebrated at the “Altai Wintering” festival, timed to the arrival of the whooper swans to a non-freezing lake in Sovetsky district, as the representative of the Altai Tourism Centre and manager of the holiday, Elena Kutsenko reported at a press conference on Thursday.
“This year the festival will be held from November 29 to December 2. The festival will include competitions in seven kinds of winter sports, not less than 1 thousand athletes from different regions of the country will participate. Last year, the festival timed to the arrival of swans attracted about 20 thousand tourists. This year we have set ourselves a goal to collect not less, maybe even more guests”, - E. Kutsenko said.
Tours to Russia
According to E. Kutsenko, competitions in fishing, hockey, motor-skiing, powered paragliding, winter cold training and other sports will be held on the territory of Zarinsky district, in Belokurikha and Barnaul. For the first time, as the festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, its main venue will be located on the territory of the special tourism and recreation economic zone titled “Turquoise Katun”.
