The "Land of the Leopard" National Park Entered the International Alliance of Protected Areas
16.11.2018 13:31

The "Land of the Leopard" National Park entered the International Alliance of Protected Areas  (IAPA), which makes it possible to cooperate with  specially protected natural territories of North-East Asia.

The International Alliance was created in 2014 at the initiative of environmentalists of China. It includes 97 territories from 11 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.

"The Alliance will become an important link for our territories and will create new opportunities for cooperation. In the long term, we set the task of creating a Russian-Chinese cross-border reserve, a common territory that will  organize close cooperation between the specialists of the two countries. Together, we will achieve large results in the study and preservation of populations of the Far Eastern leopard and Amur tiger," the director of the “Land of the Leopard” says.

The report emphasizes that the Alliance includes Chinese conservation reserves, which are part of the new Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park. Membership in an international organization will help  to restore the population of rare animals.

Another advantage of membership in IAPA is an access to the best world experience in the development of protected natural areas. The Alliance regularly organizes large-scale meetings that become a platform for communication between its participants.
