The transition to electronic employment records will start in 2021. The corresponding bill was developed by the Ministry of Labor. The document provides for the introduction of amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, according to which, beginning from January 1, 2020, the data on the employee’s work activity will be filled in by the employer and transferred to the Pension Fund only in an electronic form on a monthly basis. This will include information from the current employment record, with the exception of data about education and awards of the employee.
Beginning from January 1, 2021, employers will transmit such data to the Pension Fund upon the occurrence of each personnel-related event, and the data about the work activities of employees will be recorded and stored only in an electronic form. However, employees will have the right to keep their employment record on paper - one just needs to submit a corresponding application.
