Foreigners associate Russia with borsch, vodka and caviar.

      Foreigners associate such food products as borsch, vodka, black and red caviar with Russia, according to Margarita Polonik, the President of the Association of Cultural and Gastronomy Tourism of Russia. “We asked our partners from Georgia, Italy, Spain, France and other countries to participate in the survey”, as Polonik said at the session of Gastronomy Tourism within the frame the III All-Russian Congress of Tour Operators and Travel Agents in Sochi.

      She noted that foreigners had to choose the products they associated with Russia from the proposed list. “According to preliminary data, Moscow borsch became the most popular food among foreign tourists and their most memorable meal during their visits to Russia”, as the President of the Association stressed. According to her, vodka ranked second, whereas black and red caviar ranked third.

      “Russian food products popular among foreigners also include dumplings, pancakes, kvass and buckwheat”, as M. Polonik added.
