Scientific and Tourism Centres will Open on the Territory of the “Russian Arctic” National Park

 Scientific and tourism centres will open on the territory of the “Russian Arctic” National Park. The “Russian Arctic” National Park (Arkhangelsk Oblast) plans to create a network of scientific and tourist inpatient hospitals on the archipelagoes of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya.

      These will be centres, multifunctional Arctic complexes (MAC), where 50 people - scientists, inspectors of the national park - can live. It is contemplated to place one complex on Heiss Island being a part of Franz Josef Land, the second one - on the Zhelaniya Cape of the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago that is also a part of the National Park.

      In addition to a residential complex for 50 people, each MAC will include utility rooms, a fuel and lubricant depot, a helicopter pad and a control cab. According to the data of the National Park, it is visited by more than 1,000 tourists every year.
