About 23.5 million tourists will have visited Moscow by the end of 2018, according to the estimates of authorities: this indicator is by 9% more than during the previous year, according to the data of the press service of the capital government. “According to the forecast, 23.5 million tourists will visit Moscow in 2018, which is 9% more than in 2017”, as the Mayor’s press service reported on Wednesday.
It is noted that the largest contribution to the growth of the tourist flow this year was made by the visitors from foreign countries – their number increased by 40%. At the same time, when compared with 2010, the number of tourists to the capital increased by 12.8 million, or by 84%, as the press service emphasized.
The Mayor's Office notes that the most important factors in increasing Moscow’s attractiveness for tourists have become the improvement of streets and parks, improvement of public transport infrastructure, opening of new hotels, holding of large-scale and accessible cultural, sports, leisure and other events, enhancing security, and creating friendly atmosphere on the streets of the city.
