The Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val is holding the exhibition "Ivan Nikolaev", dedicated to the art of the famous Russian muralist.
Ivan Nikolaev is most famous for his artworks at the magnificent Moscow metro stations, such as Otradnoe, Borovitskaya, and Dostoevskaya.
Among the exhibits, there are mainly works of the 1970s-1980s; their main subjects are the city and its mythology, everyday traditions, and rituals, such as weddings and funerals.
When working on his murals, Ivan Nikolaev tried various approaches, masterfully experimenting with volume, composition, and color.
