The Darwin Museum has opened an exhibition of to the well-known Russian zoologist, ecologist, and biogeographer Alexander Formosov.
The project “Forest Detective” is timed to the 120th anniversary since the birth of the outstanding wildlife explorer.
Alexander Formosov is mostly known to the general public as an animal painter and the author of numerous literary works about the secrets of the animal world.
The exhibition includes his personal belongings, diaries, books, drafts, as well as a collection of his watercolor and graphic works. The latter ones were the result of many years of his traveling in Dagestan and Mongolia, the Far East and the Murmansk Islands.
The exhibition also presents stuffed animals from the collection of the Darwin Museum and illustrations for the books by Alexander Formosov.
Where: the Darwin State Museum at the address 57, Vavilov Street, next to metro station Akademicheskaya, Moscow.
When: from December 29, 2018, to March 3, 2019.
