According to the results of 2018, Russian imports of dairy products may decrease to 6.3-6.5 million tons, reaching a minimum level over the past 15 years, Kommersant reports, citing a report from the National Union of Milk Producers. Experts say that one of the main reasons for this dynamic is the restriction on the import of dairy products from the EAEU countries - in particular, from Belarus.
The most noticeable - by 48.9% - the import of whey decreased; this is followed by condensed milk and cream, the import of which decreased by 33.8%, and the import of whole-milk products, which showed a decline of 21.1%. It is worth noting that the import of cheeses and ice cream at the same time increased - by 21.1% and 20.9%, respectively.
Director of Soyuzmoloko, Artem Belov, believes that the main reason for the fall in imports was the restriction on imports of products from the EAEU countries.
