The fantasy ballet in two acts was staged by choreographer Alexei Miroshnichenko.
The Nutcracker ballet of the Perm Opera and Ballet House was nominated in seven categories as part of the 25th Russian National Golden Mask Award.
On Tuesday, the ballet was performed on the stage of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theater.
The ballet-extravaganza to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky was staged by choreographer Alexei Miroshnichenko, who wrote the libretto based on Hoffmann fairy tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.
“I always wanted to tell this story in my own way. We came up with a fabulously philosophical thing, in which Tchaikovsky and Hoffman reign, whereas Petipa and Lev Ivanov flicker,” - Alexei Miroshnichenko said.
The festival of the Golden Mask nominees will culminate with the awarding ceremony on the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi Theater on April 16, 2019.
