The number of catering establishments continued to rapidly grow in 2018, and the most rapidly growing format was presented by takeaway establishments: their number grew by 57%, as Kommersant reports with a reference to the survey conducted by 2GIS analysts.

      According to the survey conducted in 16 cities with a population of over one millioneach, the growth in the number of catering establishments made up almost 3 times in 2018, reaching 15% (5% in 2017).

      The popularity of establishments of the “takeaway” format is associated, first of all, with the low entry threshold, as well as with the popularity of coffee drinksin Russia. According to Marina Lapenkova, the expert of the food service market of the Russian NPD division, the number of coffee orders in Russia grew by 12% in 2018. In general, NPD notes that things have changed in the segment of coffee shops: mini-coffee houses are replacing larger full-service cafes.
