The percentage of foreign investors assessing the investment environment in Russia as negative has grown more than twice over the year - from 22% to 55%, as “Kommersant” reports, with a reference to the survey held the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) and FleishmanHillard Vanguard agency.
This has been the worst indicator since 2014 when 82% of investors reported the deterioration of the investment environment. At the same time, the number of investors who positively assess the Russian investment environment has sharply decreased: from 33% in 2017 to 10% in 2018. 40% of respondents did not notice any changes. Investors think that the key problem hindering entrepreneurial activities in Russia is corruption (60% of respondents).
It is noteworthy that in 2017 the majority of respondents indicated the lack of qualified personnel, but at the end of 2018 a much smaller number of respondents considered it a severe problem - 40%, as compared with 67% in 2017.
