The Museum of Russian Impressionism and the Tretyakov Gallery present an exhibition of paintings by Nikolai Mescherin.
Nikolai Meshcherin was an outstanding Russian impressionist and one of the first downshifters in this country: he quit a successful business in Moscow for a quiet life in a secluded country estate.
The exhibition includes more than 100 paintings by Nikolai Mescherin as well as his famous guests, namely Igor Grabar, Isaac Levitan, and Apollinary Vasnetsov. The visual narrative of the exposition is based on the theme of season changing. The central place is occupied by Nikolai Mescherin’s painting "Rye Fields". On the reverse side of the canvas there is another artwork, “The Edge of the Winter Forest" by him.
In addition to the paintings, the exhibition presents photos by Nikolai Mescherin.
