Tibetan Cham Dances and Lama Chanting in Moscow

On Tibetan Culture Day in Moscow, June 8, 2019, will see an extraordinary miracle play in the Cinema House.

“Cham Dances and Chanting of Tibetan Lamas”  is a colorful performance in traditional costumes and masks. In addition to it, visitors will have a chance to taste national Tibetan treats, attend a photo exhibition about life in Tibetan monasteries and listen to the speech of Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche.

On Tibetan Culture Day in Moscow, twenty lamas and monks will perform the traditional Cham dances to the sounds of Tibetan folk instruments: long pipes, conches, kanglings, big drums and cymbals.

Such performances were first held in the Tibetan Buddhist Samye Monastery in the 8th century. Each part of the dance is dedicated to a specific character, a historical or mythological event. As a whole, the show glorifies the victory of good over evil.

When: at 7 pm on June 8, 2019.

Where: the Central Cinema House at the address 13, Vasilyevskaya Street, next to the Mayakovskaya metro station, Moscow
