According to the results of 2018, Russia returned to the top 10 European countries in terms of the number of projects with direct foreign investment (DFI), as PRIME reports, with a reference to the study by the EY international consulting company that was prepared for SPIEF.

A total of 211 such projects have been implemented during the year. “In 2018, foreign investors invested in 211 projects in Russia. This indicator allowed the country to take the ninth place in the list of 20 most attractive countries for investment”, as the study says.

Significant growth was shown by the projects in the fields of sales and marketing, as compared to 2017, their number has doubled (21 projects in 2017 and 41 in 2018), demonstrating one of the best results in Europe. Besides, the number of projects in the field of research and development (R & D) also increased - from 6 to 12. At the same time, as compared with 2017, the number of projects decreased by 11%. It is noted that the fall trend corresponds to the general European trend:  investment activity is declining due to the slowdown in economic growth in Europe and Brexit.
