The Valaam Archipelago has always been a place attracting artists, photographers, and writers from all over the world.
It fascinates with the northern panoramas, stern beauty and landscapes of Lake Ladoga. These islands are depicted in famous paintings by Nicholas Roerich, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Fyodor Vasilyev, Ivan Shishkin and other renowned Russian artists.
The Zolotoi Plyos Gallery traditionally holds creative trips to Valaam. The artists who take part in the expeditions subsequently hold reporting exhibitions with artworks inspired by the archipelago.
The current exhibition at the Yesenin Center displays about a hundred of such paintings by I. Ganina, A. Lobov, M. Orlova, S. Aldushkin, Yu. Kostsova, and other contemporary artists.
