The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) presented an annual ranking of the investment attractiveness of Russian regions. The ranking is for the first time headed by Moscow; in 2018 the capital only ranked second. Then the ranking was headed by Tyumen Oblast; this year the city lost two positions and took the third line.

The Republic of Tatarstan ranked second. A rapid progress was shown by Kaluga Oblast that rose from the 13th to the fourth place. St. Petersburg has descended by one line and ranked fifth.

The top ten also included Tula, Moscow, Belgorod, Leningrad and Ulyanovsk regions. The investment attractiveness rankings of ASI have been published since 2014.
