Cosmonauts Ready To “Silence” The International Space Station

The crew of the ISS successfully fights the most “annoying” problem of the spaceship – high noise level. The Mission Control Centre reports cosmonauts have started another stage of the “Noise-measure” experiment aimed at lowering noise level at the station.

The crew will install extra vibration insulation on the fans, and then noise level will be measured and data put to medical computer.

The cosmonauts have already performed part of the experiment in June, when they have installed a cover on the atmosphere revitalization system. The results were more than satisfying. Then the same operation was performed on the air conditioning system, and now it’s the turn of the fans.

Constantly high noise level on the International space station doubtlessly affects the crew’s health, the medics say. But there exist many recommendations and means for protecting ears – earplugs and special headphones among them.
