Exhibition

The Moscow State History Museum welcomes you to an exhibition of antique porcelain miniature sculptures inspired by the illustrations of the Magic Lantern magazine of 1817–1818.

The exhibition includes about 200 products of the Imperial Factory, as well as private porcelain-making enterprises. It is complemented with the magazine editions as well as paintings and sketches related to the porcelain art.

The exposition is arranged in such a way that you can see the characters’ faces in different perspectives, in an enlarged size.

Special attention is paid to artworks that tell about the life of Russia under the reign of Catherine II and during the Patriotic War
of 1812 against Napoleon. All of these miniature sculptures display the life of common Russian peasants, before and after important reforms in Russia.
