National Park for the Protection of Siberian White Cranes will be Created in Yakutia

“Kytalyk” National Park for the protection of Siberian white cranes will be created in Yakutia. The park is being created as part of the federal project titled “Conservation of Biological Diversity and the Development of Ecological Tourism” of the “Ecology” national project. More than 60% of the global population of Siberian white cranes live in the Kytalyk game reserve.

      Siberian white crane is a species found only in the northern territories of Russia - in Yakutia, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk Oblast.

      The species is listed in the Red Book as endangered. The population of the crane species in Russia is estimated at 2.9-3 thousand individuals. The project on conservation of the Siberian white crane population has been implemented Yakutia since 2016.
