Archaeologists from St. Petersburg, Kostroma, Arkhangelsk, Tver, Estonia and Belarus have excavated an old Viking settlement near the village of Gorozhane in the Pskov Region.
Experts have discovered more than 500 artifacts, including coins, beads, clear quartz, metal, Arabic silver and bone-carved items found for the first time.
The territory of the excavation is considered to be the richest site of the X — XI centuries in the North-West of Russia and harbours a great number of historical things related to trade, crafts, and military affairs. The number of items found was a record for research on this area.
