The resorts of North Caucasus - Elbrus and Arkhyz – have been nominated for the National Geographic Awards 2019. The winners will be announced at the end of November.
A total of five resort areas are represented in the Russian Ski Resorts nomination: Sheregesh (currently 9% of the votes), Kirovsk (14% ), Elbrus region (34%), Arkhyz (10%) and Krasnaya Polyana (33%).
Last year, Arkhyz and Elbrus also participated in the award nomination. Then Elbrus took the third place with a small margin. The editors of the magazine try to look at the contest from a new angle every year and to select the most interesting candidates. Internet users can also offer their own options. The audience of the award is very broad: about 132 thousand people have voted in all 24 nominations by now.
