The St. Petersburg Tulip Festival on Yelagin Island took part in the World Tulip Society Summit in Hague and won the World Tulip Destination Worth Traveling For nomination. Along with the award, it has got a place in Top 10 of the world’s best festivals. The jury highly estimated the festival's opening program and the variety of flowers (more than 120 breeds were presented there this summer, including black tulips and chameleon tulips).
Besides, members of the society were fascinated with the idea of arranging flower beds in an architectural and park ensemble of the 19th century. It should be noted that the Kirov Central Park of Culture and Leisure is the only one in Russia professionally engaged in planting tulips and holding a themed festival for six years.
