Large American retailer TJX Companies acquired a 25% stake in Familia’s Russian chain of stores. Familia has nearly 300 stores nationwide.
The deal amounted to 225 million dollars. All existing shareholders of the Russian company, including Goldman Sachs and Baring Vostok, partially sold their shares.
According to Familia, the deal will allow TJX Companies gaining access to the Russian retail market in the low price segment. Now TJX Companies owns more than three thousand stores around the world - including one of the largest US networks TJ Maxx.
