Foreign citizens are encountering the problem of crossing the border for visiting St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast due to inaccuracies in filling out documents for electronic visas.
One of the typical mistakes is the incorrect transcription of letters that cannot be found in the Latin alphabet when filling out documents for a visa. For example, this happens when transcribing some letters of the Czech alphabet.
The percentage of people who were prohibited to pass the border is not very big. The problem is detected only at the border where foreign citizens show obtained electronic visas. The detailed rules for filling out documents for visas and transcriptions can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nevertheless, foreigners still make mistakes.
