Petrozavodsk Airport in Karelia did not resume operation within the established term for completing the runway upgrading.
The next civilian flight will be served by the airport on December 2, 2019.
The only airport in Karelia, Petrozavodsk, suspended operation on October 1 in connection with the replacement of a part of the reinforced concrete slabs of the runway. It was planned to complete the works before November 6 of this year.
Petrozavodsk is the only airport in Karelia serving both domestic and international airlines. The airfield is located at a distance of 17 km from the capital of the republic, near the village of Besovets. It is a joint civil and military airport: in addition to the civilian sector where regular passenger flights are conducted to Cherepovets, Arkhangelsk, Moscow, Sochi, Simferopol and Anapa, there is a sector where the Russian Air Forces are deployed.
