UNESCO will Include Kargopol (Arkhangelsk Oblast) into the Network of Creative Cities

UNESCO has taken decision on inclusion of the city of Kargopol (Arkhangelsk Oblast) into the Network of Creative Cities in the field of Crafts and Folk Art.

      The network unites the cities with development based on creativity: arts and crafts and folk art, music, design, literature, gastronomy. An application on behalf of the residents of Kargopol was prepared and sent to the experts this summer.

      Kargopol was founded in 1146. The city has a state museum, besides, Kargopol is also known for its traditional pottery. The population of the city makes up 10 thousand people.
