On December 14, Rostourism will hold the “Ride, Ryazan!” Music and sports festival on Lenin Square, as part of the New Year’s Capital of Russia project. The event is designed to increase interest in winter sports among young people, as well as the city as a tourist destination among residents of the European part of Russia. As noted in Rostourism, the festival will include shows and snowboarding competitions. The festival will also bring together local music groups, and DJ sets. A food court with hot drinks and food will work all day on the holiday grounds.
Promotion of winter sports and ski tourism is one of the goals of the Strategy for the Development of Tourism in the Russian Federation until 2035, which was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Rostourism and approved by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in September this year. According to the document, the development of ski tourism by 2035 should result in a twofold increase in the market for ski tourism and an increase in the number of citizens involved in ski tourism and recreation from 1.5 million to 2.5 million.
