The results of the first international open competition on creation of the best concept of the art object for Shrovetide 2020 have been summed up in the “Nikola-Lenivets” art park in Kaluga Oblast.

      Fire Shrovetide in Nikola-Lenivets will be celebrated on February 29. For the first time, the object for this was chosen by competition.

      160 artists and architects from different countries participated therein: they presented 174 projects. The winner is the option by the Katarsis architectural firm titled “Burning Bridges”. They propose to burn a huge bridge made of hay and vine, about 70 meters long, with towers no shorter than 20 meters.

      The process of constructing the object will begin in late December and will be completed on the eve of the celebration of Shrovetide in Nikola-Lenivets. Burning art objects has been a tradition of the art park since 2001. Previously, they burnt a pyramid made of hay, “The Media Tower”, “The Baikonur”, “The Cooling Tower, or the Hay Tower, the Firebird, this year it was the Bastille. In 2018, they burnt a building made in the style of “fiery Gothic” that was 30 meters high. Due to its resemblance to a Catholic cathedral, the performance provoked a widespread anger of religious people.
