The experts at the Euromonitor analytical company have listed the cities of the world visited by the largest number of foreign tourists in 2019: these were Hong Kong, Bangkok and Macau.
The ranking is based on the data for the incomplete 12 months of the year 2019. The ranking included a total of 100 cities.
The leader is Hong Kong: it lost 8.7% of the tourist flow, as compared to last year, but all the same ranked 1st (26.7 million arrivals). It is followed by Bangkok (25.8 million, + 6.9%) and Macau (20.6 million, + 9%).
In 2019, Moscow took the 45th line in the ranking with almost 6 million foreign arrivals (+ 8.3%, as compared to last year).
According to this indicator, the Russian capital outcompeted Madrid and Venice (both cities accounted for 5.6 million arrivals each). St. Petersburg took the 56th line (4.5 million arrivals, + 11.5%).
