The prestigious International Classical Music Award (ICMA) again goes to the sound recording studio “Melody”.
The famous studio received the award in the Best Collection nomination for the album “Mechislav Weinberg. Selected Works”. The album was released for the 100th anniversary since the composer's birth.
This victory at the ICMA awarded since 2011is already the fifth one for “Melody”.
The company has first presented on CD the composer’s chamber music performed by Soviet musicians Timofei Dokshitser and Fedor Druzhinin, as well as the Moscow Chamber Orchestra conducted by Rudolf Barshay and Borodin Quartet.
“Unfortunately, there are very few Soviet recordings of Mechislav Weinberg,” Andrey Krichevsky, Director General of Melody Studio said, – “In recent years, his music has been reborn, operas by Weinberg have been performed in leading Russian theaters, and his compositions played in Europe”.
