The fifth “Tolstoy” international theatre festival will be held at the “Yasnaya Polyana” museum-estate of Leo Tolstoy from July 1 to July 5.

The organizers want to include the following pieces into program of the theatre festival: the performances should be staged according to the texts of Tolstoy (artistic and journalistic ones), as well as his biographical works. The organizing committee of the festival prefers the performancescreated in the last three years or preparing for the premiere and suitable for outdoor venues. Performances can be of various genres, come from different cities, be carried out in Russian and or a foreign language.

This theatre festival was first held in 2016: leading Russian theatres presented performances based on the works of Leo Tolstoy. In the following years, the event gained international status: the program began to includeperformances of foreign theatres and meetings with foreign directors.
