Petersburg stopped accepting aircraft from the European Union due to coronavirus. St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov introduced additional measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Interfax reports with reference to the operational headquarters. “St. Petersburg temporarily does not accept aircraft from EU countries. Travelers return via Moscow and other cities,” the report said. Earlier, the governor's press service reported that in St. Petersburg, free attendance at schools, universities and kindergartens was introduced. It is forbidden to visit elderly people in social institutions and hospitals, as well as children in orphanages and boarding schools.
In total, nine people fell ill in St. Petersburg, two recovered, and 1,053 people were under observation. In the Leningrad Region, one case of coronavirus was registered, another 150 people are in self-isolation at home. Recall, due to the pandemic of the virus, the heads of state and government of the EU decided to suspend entry for citizens of countries outside the European Union. The entry ban will be valid for 30 days. In Russia, following the example of European states, the authorities also decided to close the borders from March 18 to May 1 for foreigners.
