Actors are not going on quarantine vacation but performing in the empty hall. The Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg has been temporarily closed to visitors due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now the performances are played in the empty hall and broadcasted online on social networks. This was announced at a video conference by Nikolai Roshchin, the chief director of the Alexandrinsky Theatre.
"The remote way of communication with the audience is going to require some new resources from the actors and be a kind of creative challenge. However, the theater has taken such a step, trying to remain active in the conditions when the audience has to stay at home," – Mr. Roshchin said.
At the same time, none of the team will go on enforced leave, he added.
