By the end of 2020, the fall of the Russian IT segment may exceed 30% in dollar terms, Kommersant reports citing an IDC forecast. The fall has already affected the segments of phones, personal computers and servers, and in general the situation may be worse than during the crisis of 2015.
“If in mid-April it was still possible to compare the current drop in the IT market with a decline of 37.3% in 2015, then the latest data from Rosstat citing about a 7% decrease in freight traffic showed that the situation is even more serious now,” Robert Farish, the vice-president of IDC in Russia and the CIS, said. When evaluating the market, the supply of software, services and equipment was taken into account.
In the first quarter of 2020, shipments of mobile phones showed a decrease of 28%, servers - 12%, tablets and PCs fell by 10%.
