The website of the Restoration and Conservation Department of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is hosting an online photo exhibition of saved art. It is a joint project of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Chennai (India).
The online exhibition features photographs of artworks damaged during World War II. In addition, you can learn about the restoration history of exhibits from German collections, about the work carried out by specialists today, as well as see what the exhibits looked like before and after the restoration.
In 1945, the museum received art treasures taken away from Germany to the Soviet Union as a compensatory restitution. Specialists saved the art masterpieces of the Dresden Gallery.
