A Bill on Limiting the Removal of Children from the Family has been Submitted to the State Duma

The co-chairs of the working group on constitutional amendments introduced a bill to the State Duma that limits the extrajudicial removal of children from their families. It aims to provide constitutional provisions for the protection of the family and the creation of decent conditions for raising children.

According to the document, the question of the removal of the child will be decided by the court. The application may be submitted by guardianship authorities or internal affairs bodies if they have received information about a threat to the life of the child. The application must be considered as soon as possible - within 24 hours. It is proposed to preserve extrajudicial procedure only in exceptional cases, when there is a risk of the child's death within a few hours.
