For the first half of the year, the number of crimes in the field of information technology increased by 91.7% compared to the same period in 2019, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs states. Among other crimes, their share was 22.3%.
The total number of crimes compared to the same period last year decreased by 0.1%. The number of crimes against a person decreased by 8%, using weapons - by 10.1%, robberies - 20.2%, thefts - 2.9%. The number of crimes in the field of family relations decreased by 10.6%.
Restrictions due to coronavirus did not lead to an increase in the number of crimes involving migrants.
At the end of 2019, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported a high detection rate of the most serious crimes. However, there has been an increase in crimes committed using IT technology. The department has created units to combat cybercrime in various directions.
