In the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Moscow City Day will be held without mass events. It will take place on the first weekend of autumn, September 5–6. In connection with the ongoing pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, large-scale festivities, including the festival on Tverskaya Street, will not be held in 2020.
The main festive events will take place in parks, festival venues and cultural institutions. The main theme of the celebration will be "Museum Moscow": about 90 museums of the capital can be visited free of charge, but by appointment during celebration days.
Earlier, the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin announced the possible cancellation of festive events on the City Day. At the same time, he called information about the return of restrictions in the city from September 15 rumors. According to the latest data, more than 253 thousand people were infected with COVID-19 in Moscow, of which 199 thousand recovered, 4.6 thousand died. Over the past day, 693 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the city.
