The Aeroflot's CEO Vitaly Savelyev hopes that flights from Russia to the European Union will be resumed in 2020. He believes that EU countries are abandoning flights with Russia due to mass testing for coronavirus in the country - this leads to a greater identification of people with COVID-19.
Russia resumed flights with Turkey, Tanzania, Great Britain and Switzerland in August. Russians have already started booking flights, hotels and tours abroad for the New Year. Thailand became the leader in demand, although it is still unknown when flights with the country will resume.
Pobeda overtook Aeroflot in terms of the number of passengers carried in July. The low-cost airline even showed insignificant growth in traffic YoY, while in the industry as a whole, passenger traffic declined by 52.8%.
