The 15th Anniversary International Music Festival "Stars on Baikal", which is traditionally held in Irkutsk in September, has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus situation, the founder of the festival, Russian virtuoso pianist Denis Matsuev, said on his Instagram account.
“Unfortunately, in September, as usual, we will not be able to hold “Stars on Baikal.” This is due to the epidemiological situation in the city of Irkutsk. I consulted both the governor and representatives of Rospotrebnadzor. Concerts indoors are still too risky," Matsuev wrote.
He added that foreign musicians who were supposed to arrive at the anniversary festival cannot plan their flight due to closed borders.
The Stars on Baikal Festival was initiated by the famous musician Denis Matsuev, who was born in Irkutsk. Traditionally, the festival takes place in the first half of September and consists of 15-18 concerts, as well as master classes and creative meetings. The first festival took place in 2004.
