AliExpress Russia (owned by Alibaba Group, Mail.ru Group, MegaFon and RDIF), together with the Samokat service, is launching express delivery of products and consumer goods in Russia, RBC reported citing a press release from the companies.
The service will operate under the “Yest’! (Eat!)” Brand; it is planned that delivery will take no more than 15-30 minutes. It will be carried out by “Samokat” couriers. At the first stage, the service will be available in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
It will function as a section inside the main AliExpress application, a separate shopping cart will be available for ordering goods. In addition to food, the section will present household chemicals, animal feed, personal hygiene products, and consumer goods. At the first stage, the assortment will be formed on the basis of 2,500 items that Samokat works with.
AliExpress Russia started developing its food retail business several months ago. At the moment, its Tmall platform presents long-term storage goods from Auchan, Fasol, Lenta and other chains. In June, AliExpress Russia agreed on a partnership with Anastasia Tatulova's Anderson café chain, which provides for the supply of 20 types of products, mainly confectionery. “We plan to expand our product line: we will attract new Russian manufacturers and sellers so that the buyer associates us not only with the purchase of clothing or electronics, but also with food products,” Sergey Grechin, commercial director for special categories at AliExpress, told Kommersant at the time.
