The tourist tram will resume operation in St. Petersburg from September 3, the press service of the Gorelectrotrans State Unitary Enterprise reported.
"The resumption of the operation of the First Tourist route after a forced suspension is timed to coincide with the 140th anniversary of the Russian tram. From September 3, the classic Leningrad tram LM-33 will operate three runs daily," the message says.
Route T1 remains the same: from Vasilevsky Island, across the Petrogradskaya side, past the Finland Station, across Liteiny Bridge and along Liteiny Prospect to the Circus on the Fontanka. Back across Sadovaya Street and Troitsky Bridge. Departure is from the Museum of Urban Electric Transport: at 10.00, 13.00 and 16.00.
The T1 route was suspended in St. Petersburg on March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A replica of the LM-33 ("American") carriage, which is rightfully considered one of the symbols of Leningrad and St. Petersburg, operates on the route. These trams served passengers for a record 46 years: before the war, during the blockade and after the war until 1979. The modern "American" is made in the style of a historic carriage, however, it is equipped with modern electrical systems (for example, there is a USB connector next to each seat).
