The first batch of the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V" has been released into civil circulation, the press service of the Ministry of Health said. The supply of the drug to the regions of Russia will begin shortly. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that vaccination of people would begin this week.

      “The first batch of vaccine for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection "Gam-covid-vac" ("Sputnik V"), developed by the Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gamaleya of the Ministry of Health of Russia, passed the necessary quality tests in the laboratories of Roszdravnadzor and released into civil circulation. In the near future, the delivery of the first batches of vaccine to the regions is expected,” the Ministry of Health said.

      In Russia, the total number of people infected with COVID-19 amounted to 1,030,690 people, more than 17 thousand died, 843 thousand recovered. In the world, the number of people infected with COVID-19 exceeded 27 million.

      On August 11, Russia was the first in the world to register the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. The Gamaleya Center reported that the vaccination of most of the inhabitants of Russia can take place within 9-12 months. Earlier, the vaccination was made by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
