For the first time, the Center for Urban Competencies of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) estimated the share of creative industries in the Russian economy: it turned out to be significantly higher than the world average, Kommersant reports. The share of creative industries in the economy is an indicator associated with the innovativeness of the economy and its development prospects in the postindustrial scheme.

According to the center's estimates, the share of creative industries in Russia's GDP is 4.37%. The global average is 2.6%. This sector includes, for example, IT, TV and radio broadcasting, publishing industry, architecture, design and   more.

Moscow is the leader in terms of the presence of creative industries in the economy - their share in the urban economy is 19.8%. This is followed by St. Petersburg (12.6%), Ivanovo (12.3%) and Tyumen (9.6%).
