Experts examined the Kozelsky landfill for pesticides in Kamchatka, they did not detect any serious violations visually, the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov said. The Radygin landfill will also be examined. The landfills are being inspected because of their possible connection with the pollution of the Avacha Bay water area.
“Today the Kozelsk polygon of pesticides was examined... visually, there are no symbiotic disturbances, damage to the geomembranes was recorded in several places - such a reinforcing layer of the mesh - and there is no wire fence along several segments of the perimeter. Probably, our citizens took it for their own fence," Mr. Solodov said.
The governor added that the specialists not only inspected the landfill visually, but also took water samples from two wells at a depth of 17 and 20 meters.
Last week, oil products and phenol were found in the water near Khalaktyrsky Beach and in three other areas of the Avacha Bay in Kamchatka. Rosrybolovstvo opened an administrative case. The TFR and the prosecutor's office are conducting checks. Today, experts have discovered dense deposits and a change in the color of the water in the Nalycheva River, which flows into the Avachinsky Bay.
